The designs for the medals which will be handed out to the winners of the 2022 Olympic
and Paralympic Winter Games has been revealed.

The design
of the medals is often reflective of the culture and tradition of the host
nation. The 2022 winter games will be organized in Beijing – the capital of
China. As per the Olympic committee the medals have been named “Tong Xin”.

In English,
“Tong Xin” translates to “together as one”.
The design features the traditional logo of the Olympics i.e. the Olympic rings
in the center and is based on “Chinese
ancient jade concentric circle pendants” as per the release.

A carved design
walls the center of the medals and all the designs are based upon traditional
Chinese patterns.

The medals are
engraved with “XXIV Olympic Winter Games Beijing 2022” on
the front. The medals are very similar to the ones which were handed out during
the 2008 summer Olympics hosted in Bejing.

The back side
of the medals displays the emblem of the Beijing 2022 games in the center, with
the full name of the championship engraved in Chinese in the circle surrounding
the inner most circle.

Another eye-catching
feature is the presence of patterns that show ice, show and clouds; all the
features of the winter season.

As for the
medals of the Paralympics, not much differs other than the front of the medal featuring
the logo of the Paralympic committee instead of the Olympic rings. It is
surrounded by the engraved words “Beijing 2022 Paralympic Winter
Games” in both English and Braille.
