Miami Dolphins quarterback Tua Tagovailoa was slammed down by Cincinnati Bengals’ nose tackle Josh Tupou. The quarterback has sustained head and neck injuries and has been taken to a level 1 trauma center. He was however, concious.

Tagovailoa was stretchered off the field. As per Prime Video play-by-play announcer Al Michaels, the broadcast’s medical expert informed the booth that the 24-year-old’s fingers were moving into a “fencing” position after the hit.

“Tua Tagovailoa has been taken to a local hospital for further evaluation. He is conscious and has movement in all his extremities,” Miami Dolphins said on Twitter. 

Only last week, the quarterback suffered back and ankle injuries during his side’s win over the Buffalo Bills. The NFL Players Association launched an investigation to determine whether concussion protocols were properly enforced after he returned to that game following a halftime evaluation of a head injury.

However, after the star player was injured on Thursday, Miami fans roasted the team. 

“Tua Tagovailoa just had a seizure after being thrown down to the ground hitting his head hard,” a Twitter user said.

Several NFL players wished Tua a speedy recovery. 

“Prayers up man.. ??????,” Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes tweeted. 

“Prayers up for you my boii ??,” Jerry Jeudy said. 

“Praying for you @Tua ??,” Denver Broncos QB Russell Wilson said.

Last week, Tagovailoa was driven back on a hit by Buffalo pass rusher Matt Milano. His head was slammed against the ground.  After trying to get up and run a few steps back to the huddle, he collapsed.
