Mike Shannon, former St Louis Cardinals player and broadcaster, died on Sunday. He was 83 years old.
Cardinals’ owner & CEO Bill DeWitt Jr condoled Shannon’s death in a statement via MLB.com.
“The St. Louis Cardinals were saddened to learn this morning of the passing of Cardinals Hall of Famer and beloved St. Louisan Mike Shannon. Mike’s unique connection to Cardinals fans and his teammates was reflected in his unbridled passion for the game, the Cardinals, and the St. Louis community. On behalf of the entire Cardinals organization, we share our condolences with Mike’s family and friends, and his many fans,” De Witt Jr said.
Shannon was married to Judy Ann (Bufe) for 48 years. His first wife died of brain cancer in 2007. She was 66 years old. The former player then tied the knot with Lori Bergman. He is survived by his two sons, three daughters, 18 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

Lori Bergman is reportedly an entrepreneur and has been the CEO of a travel company called Destination Travel for more than 25 years. She and Mike got married in 2015.
Judy Shannon died in 2007. She had six children with her broadcaster husband. Their names are: Patricia, Michael, Erin, Peg, Daniel, and Timothy.

“My dad’s life was encapsulated by his devotion to his family, his friends, the Cardinals organization and the St. Louis community. My dad lived his life to the fullest, and he squeezed every drop from it,” Tim Shannon said in a statement.
Mike Shannon played for the St Louis Cardinals for nine years – from 1962 to 1970. He won three World Series with the team – in 1964, 1967 and 1968. He then covered the team as a broadcaster.
Shannon hit 68 home runs. He started off as a right fielder and then moved to third base.
