MLB side Atlanta Braves have acquired outfielder Eddie Rosario from the Cleveland Indians in exchange for infielder Pablo Sandoval, in a bid to strengthen their outfield play before the trade deadline.

The team confirmed the trade through their social media channels.

Cleveland will be covering a part of Rosario’s remaining contract with them as part of the deal.

Rosario is on the injured list with an abdominal injury right now. He is expected to miss a couple of more weeks of action before the fans can see him in Atlanta colours.

Before going out injured, Rosario appeared in 78 games with the Indians this season and was hitting .254/.296/.389 with seven home runs. He was in the group of outfielders who were available this offseason that signed one year deals.

The Braves will hope that Rosario can fill one of the corner outfield spots in the team and provide some offensive punch for the team. The Atlanta side has also acquired outfielder Adam Duvall in a trade with the Miami Marlins and he and Rosario could combine to solve the team’s problems in left field area.

The Brave have had a decent season so far in the Major League Baseball with the team from Georgia winning 51 of their 103 games so far. The Braves sit third in the National league East division behind the New York Mets and the Philadelphia Phillies. Their home record, 26 wins in 51 games, is marginally better than their performance on the road where they have won 25 games and lost 27.
