Fans on social media asked if Morocco were robbed of a penalty in the first half of the FIFA World Cup 2022 semi-final vs France on Wednesday. The two sides locked horns at the Al Bayt Stadium. The winner will play Argentina in the final.
In the 26th minute of the game, France were 1-0 up – credit to an acrobatic shot by Theo Hernandez. Morocco responded with initiating quick counters to disturb the French defenders. Sofiane Boufal was booked for a foul on Hernandez in the France box.
However, as per fans, Boufal should not have been booked. Some said, Morocco should have been awarded a penalty. England legend Rio Ferdinand said the same.
“Still wondering how Morocco didn’t get a penalty tbh,” a Twitter user said.
“Penalty not given for Morocco..around 26th min?” another one added.
“Just remeber this was a yellow for Morocco, instead of a penalty. Rigged 🤣” a third one said.
