Rohit Sharma and co faced an 18-run defeat against the Lucknow Super Giants in their last game. Chasing 200 runs, the Paltan was restricted to 181, Suryakumar Yadav top-scoring with 37 off 27 balls. The likes of Dewald Brevis, Tilak Varma and Kieron Pollard got starts but failed to convert them into a big innings. Except for Jasprit Bumrah, all bowlers went for big runs. English pacer Tymal Mills conceded 54 runs in his four-over quota.

However, for Mumbai, the biggest concern is the form of skipper Rohit Sharma and veteran Kieron Pollard. While the former has gathered only 114 runs from six innings, the latter has 82 against his name.

With no points in their kitty, the Mumbai Indians lie at the bottom of the points table.

The Chennai Super Kings on the other hand are one place above Mumbai. With five losses from six games, a defeat on Thursday would also send them on the brink of elimination. Their biggest positive is Ruturaj Gaikwad, who scored a 48-ball 73 against Gujarat Titans.
