The Southern Oregon University’s second game of the season against the Montana State University-Northern football team has been postponed owing to poor air quality caused by fires near Ashland, Oregon. The Montana side were hoping to jump back to winning ways after suffering a loss in their season opener.

However, the game has been rescheduled for September 11 at Southern Oregon as both the teams, fortunately, had a bye week scheduled for the following week.

Meanwhile, Southern Oregon Raiders are still looking for their first point of the season after they suffered a 42-28 loss to Rocky Mountain College last weekend. MSU-N opened the season with a 42-14 loss to the College of Idaho. Both teams will be hoping to get back to winning ways.

Ahead of their first game of the season, Raiders senior linebacker Jake Regino had said, “It’s through the roof right now, man, we can’t wait.”

“Can’t wait to get on that plane there and hit somebody other than our own colors and show them what we’ve been doing for these past 18 months,” he added.

SOU hadn’t played a game since their 2019 season finale on November 16 before their tie against the Rocky Mountains last week.

“As we get closer to game time there’s going to be this pressure everybody is going to put on themselves,” Head coach Charlie Hall had said. “All those things are exciting but you got to take a breath every once in a while and see where we’re at and move forward.”

Meanwhile, wildfires continue to rage in Oregon although low blowing winds in the area have helped those attempting to curb damages by using bulldozers and helicopters.

The Oregon fire, which was triggered due to a lighting strike, is being fought by nearly 2,200 people, who were successful in containing at least one-third of the blaze.
