Pittsburgh Panthers rallied past the Duke Blue Devils to win 54-29 on Saturday and bounce back from a home loss to Miami a week earlier.

Meanwhile, Pittsburgh quarterback Kenny Pickett threw three touchdown passes and ran for a score. He also threw for 405 yards as the Panthers (7-2, 4-1 Atlantic Coast Conference, No. 25 CFP) posted their best nine-game record since an 8-1 mark in 2009.

Playing on his 21st birthday, Sam Scarton made four field goals for Pittsburgh, who leads the ACC’s Coastal Division and moved to 4-0 on the road. Jordan Addison had 171 receiving yards on seven catches and scored on a reception and a run.

Duke (3-6, 0-5) dropped their sixth straight game. After passing for 174 yards and a score, quarterback Gunnar Holmberg left the game with an upper-body injury on the team’s final drive of the first half. Mataeo Durant, the running back, got 89 yards on 24 carries.

After a series of potentially game-changing plays, Pittsburgh took the lead for sure on Pickett’s 22-yard scramble with four minutes left in the first half. On the penultimate play of the half, Scarton connected on his third field goal in an eight-minute stretch, putting the Panthers up 30-19.

On the game’s first play, Duke marched to the Pittsburgh 1-yard line before Durant’s fumble and a chaotic pursuit for the ball. Pittsburgh answered with a 76-yard drive in seven plays, capped by a 10-yard touchdown throw from Pickett to Jared Wayne.

On Duke’s second drive, Charlie Ham’s 46-yard field goal gave the Blue Devils their first points in the first half in three games.

Following a Pickett fumble, Duke was stopped on a fourth-down run from the Pittsburgh 1 by Durant.

However, Pittsburgh running back Vincent Davis Jr. was tackled in the end zone the next play, resulting in a safety.

Following that, Holmberg’s 32-yard touchdown throw to Jalon Calhoun and Jaylen Stinson’s 86-yard kickoff return were the highlights for Duke.
