New England Patriots decided to wear their throwback jerseys for the second time in the 2022 NFL season, their first on Thursday Night, in a clash against the Buffalo Bills in Week 13. The game is played at the Gillette Stadium in Foxborough. 

The game will be broadcasted live on Amazon Prime. It is the first match between the AFC East division rivals for the season.

They wore their red throwback jersey also known as “Pat Patriot” earlier this season vs the Detroit Lions in Week 5 when they absolutely demolished their opponents, 29-0. Backup QB Bailey Zappe threw 188 passing yards for a TD and an interception. RB Rhamondre Stevenson had his best game till now when he rushed 25 times for 161 yards while WR Jacobi Meyers had one receiving TD in seven receptions for 111 yards.

For tonight’s game, the Patriots have also painted their original logo at the 50-yard line, added vintage wordmarks to the end zones, and installed throwback signage throughout the stadium.

Since 1993, when the team abandoned the “Pat Patriot” for the current “Flying Elvis” logo, New England is 7-0 at home when sporting retro uniforms. In 2009, they defeated the Bills on Monday Night Football by a single point.

This evening, Buffalo will respond with all-white uniforms. With victories over the Baltimore Ravens and Kansas City Chiefs back on October 2 and 16, respectively, the Bills are 2-0 this season in this combination.

Comparing the Bills and Patriots’ records in the AFC East division:

Buffalo is second in the division while holding a 8-3 record while their opposition is bottom of the group with 6-5 as their record. Both of these teams have lost their games to their group leaders, Miami Dolphins. 

The Bills are second in the NFL in offensive yards with 4,575 while the Patriots are 25th in the league with 3,575 yards.
