The New York Jets benched starting quarterback Zach Wilson for practice squad call-up Chris Streveler against the Jacksonville Jaguars on Thursday. The two sides locked horns at the MetLife Stadium.

The 23-year-old quarterback has failed to live up to the expectations on him as he delivered yet another poor performance in the match over Jacksonville Jaguars at home. He was intercepted pre half-time as the Jets struggled to get the game going.

After being booed by the crowds for the performance, Robert Saleh opted for Chris Streveler in his place, in a desperate attempt to change the fate of the battle that was fast slipping out of their hands. The gamble failed to change the course of events, as Jaguars romped home easily to a 19-3 win that saw them tie with table toppers Tennessee Titans with seven wins.

Trevor Lawrence starred as usual for the Jaguars as he came up with 20 catches off 31 attempts and 1 touchdown for 229 yards. With the superlative performance, the 23-year-old proved yet again that he is the best quarterback in NFL at the moment.

The Jets on the other hand, failed to provide a tough fight as their defense, considered their stronghold this season, came off a cropper against the visitors while the attack too failed to inspire, just managing 3 points in the whole match.

While the Jaguars had been the pre match favorites thanks to their four win off six past encounters, the Jets had been struggling with just two wins in seven games. The match again highlighted the huge chinks in the Jets’ attacking armour as their quarterbacks are simply unable to score. The loss also meant that the Jets’ campaign in 2022 NFL ended with two weeks remaining in the event.
