The New York Jets beat the Cleveland Browns 31-30 in week 2 of the 2022 NFL season on Sunday, September 18. While there were several top performers on the field, it was Jets’ rookies Garrett Wilson and Breece Hall, who made the headlines after the game.
Wilson, 22, was the 10th overall pick by the Jets in the 2022 NFL draft. Meanwhile, Hall was drafted by the Jets in the second round in the NFL draft this year. Wilson scored his first NFL touchdown in the second quarter of the game against the Cleveland Browns when he converted a 2-yard pass from quarterback Joe Flacco.

The rookie wide receiver’s touchdown was followed by Elijah Moore catching a 13-yard pass and Breece Hall making a 23-yard sprint to set a 10-yard line. Wilson went on to catch two more straight passes and the second one helped the Jets to reach the end zone.
However, the Browns took a 14-7 lead in the second quarter, when Jacoby Brissett’s touchdown pass to Amari Cooper saw the latter scoring.
21-year-old Breece Hall then scored his maiden career touchdown followed by a 10-yard catch from Joe Flacco and equalizing just before halftime. He registered 7 carries in 50 yards with an average of 7.1 yards per carry, 1 reception and 1 receiving touchdown.
Wilson registered 8 receptions out of 14 targets, 102 yards, 2 receiving touchdowns, 6 first downs and 1 carry. His touchdown was also the first one against the Browns for the Jets.

His reception for the touchdown was also Wilson’s second against the Browns. Wilson played football for Ohio State for three seasons between 2019-2021, where he registered 2,213 yards and 23 touchdowns.
The game also witnessed Braden Mann converting a fake punt when he passed to wide receiver Jeff Smith, allowing him more passing yards (17) than Joe Flacco (16) in the first quarter. However, Flacco finished the game with 26 successful passes out of 44 attempts from 307 yards and 4 touchdown passes.
