The Chicago Bears were beaten 32-35 by the Miami Dolphins on Sunday, Week 9 of the 2022 NFL season. In a closely contested game, the hosts were almost an equal match for the visiting Dolphins side, courtesy of an inspiring performance by their quarterback Justin Fields.

The 23-year-old was one of the standout performers on the field during the game. He finished the game with 17 successful passes out of 28 attempts for 123 yards, 3 passing touchdowns, a 60.7% pass completion rate, 15 carries for 178 yards and 1 rushing touchdown.

The four touchdowns by Fields helped the Chicago Bears to stay in the game. He also made headlines as he broke the record of former Atlanta Falcons, Philadelphia Eagles, New York Jets and Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Michael Vick for the most rushing yards in a regular season game by a quarterback.

The Chicago Bears quarterback registered a total of 178 rushing yards for 15 carries. He also scored a rushing touchdown in the game. It was also the highest by a quarterback in the Super Bowl era, as Fields broke Vick’s previous record of 173 yards on Sunday.

However, the Bears quarterback fell 3 yards short of equalizing the all-time record of most rushing yards by a quarterback, which was set by former San Francisco 49ers star Colin Kaepernick (181 yards) in 2012.

He also broke the Bears’ record of rushing yards by a quarterback, which was set by Bobby Douglass (127 yards) more than 50 years ago, in 1972.

“I think I’m just growing and getting better each and every week,” the 23-year-old said after the game. “My main goal right now is just to continue to do that. Continue to trend up, and each and every day I practice, just keep getting better and better. That’s really all you can do,” he added.

The Chicago Bears are now in the third position of the NFC North standings, behind the Minnesota Vikings and the Green Bay Packers. They have registered three wins and six losses in the 2022 NFL season so far and are currently on a two-game losing streak.
