The Houston Texans welcomed the Philadelphia Eagles in Thursday Night Football in Week 9 of the 2022 NFL season on November 3 at NRG Stadium. The Eagles are the only unbeaten team in the league this season so far, while the Texans have won only one game.

However, while the Houston Texans struck early by scoring the first touchdown, it was not their on-field performance that made the news. According to many fans, the attendance for the Thursday Night Football game at NRG Stadium was low, as has been the case in many games across the league this season so far.

“Saw a post the other day about NFL attendance and it had the #Texans having a 96% attendance rate… I’m here to tell you that’s a complete lie. My second time in this stadium this week and it’s 50% capacity MAX. And half of those fans were either #Titans or #EaglesNation fans lol,” a user wrote on Twitter.

Another user uploaded a video of the stadium before the game between the Houston Texans and Philadelphia Eagles began, pointing out the attendance.

“20min before kickoff at the Texans game….the attendance is just sad,” the user captioned the video.

“What is the expected attendance at the Texans game tonight? Two?” another user tweeted.

Attendance in many leagues across the United States has seen a dip recently, including the NFL and the NBA and it was pointed out by another fan on Twitter.

“Attendance is down across all leagues. The Canucks are struggling to sell out in Vancouver, many nfl teams are struggling to sell out, don’t get me started on the NBA. Even the world champion Warriors are struggling to sell out. Watching at home more convenient for many,” the user explained.

The Houston Texans are having a hard time in the NFL 2022 season so far, having won only against the Jacksonville Jaguars in Week 7 on October 9. They are currently at the bottom of the AFC South standings, having lost a whopping five games already.

Meanwhile, the Philadelphia Eagles have been one of the best teams in the NFL this season and are currently on a seven-game winning streak. They are also yet to face a defeat in the season and are leading the NFC East standings.
