Here is a list of waiver targets for week 3:

Quarterbacks:

Jimmy Garoppolo (Recommended FAAB: 2% of overall budget):

San Francisco 49ers’ starting quarterback Trey Lance was taken off the field on a cart with an injured right ankle.

Head coach Kyle Shanahan said that the player broke his ankle and will undergo season-ending surgery. Jimmy Garoppolo, who was once NFL GOAT Tom Brady’s understudy, replaced Lance.

Garoppolo didn’t practice with the team during training camp, throwing on his own on a side field, before agreeing to return as a backup on a reduced contract this season. Now, he is expected to carry their Super Bowl hopes.

The 30-year-old did not disappoint. In his first game this season, he completed five passes, including a 38-yard touchdown pass to Ross Dwelley that put San Francisco up 13-0.

Tua Tagovailoa (Recommended FAAB: 5% of overall budget):

Tua Tagovailoa led Miami’s comeback against the Baltimore Ravens. He threw for 469 yards and six touchdowns, four of which came during a spectacular fourth quarter.

Tagovailoa’s 7-yard touchdown pass to Jaylen Waddle with 14 seconds left completed the incredible comeback after Miami (2-0) trailed 35-14 with under 13 minutes remaining.

Wide receivers:

Garret Wilson (Recommended FAAB: 21% of overall budget):

The New York Jets started the 2022 season with two highly rated rookie wide receivers- Breece Hall and Garret Wilson

Wilson’s eight catches for 102 yards helped the Jets secure a 31-30 win over the Cleveland Browns.

Wilson, 22, was the 10th overall pick by the Jets in the 2022 NFL draft. He scored his first NFL touchdown in the second quarter of the game, when he converted a 2-yard pass from quarterback Joe Flacco.

The WR, along with eight receptions from 14 targets, managed to record 6 first downs and 1 carry.

Jahan Dotson (Recommended FAAB: 10% of overall budget):

The Washington Commanders wide receiver rookie caught four of five targets for 59 yards and a touchdown in his side’s 36-27 loss to Detroit. He also added a two-point conversion.

Even with Terry McLaurin and Curtis Samuel leading the Washington attack, Dotson has managed to make a place for himself. The 22-year-old’s chemistry with quarterback Carson Wentz is only helping his case.

Nelson Agholor (Recommended FAAB: 3% of overall budget):

The New England Patriots wide receiver finished the game against the Pittsburgh Steelers with six passes for 110 yards.

His ‘wow’ play impressed coach Bull Belichick. On the third-and3 play, quarterback threw at Agholor deep down the right. Steelers  cornerback Ahkello Witherspoon was covering the WR.

However, Agholor caught the football around the 7-yard line, and managed to race into the end zone untouched.

“Nelson did a great job going up there and taking the ball,” Belichick said. “You know, just good job by Mac giving the receiver a chance to go get it. And Nelly came down with it. So, yeah, that was a huge play for us.”

Corey Davis (Recommended FAAB: 12% of overall budget):

After being quite for most of the New York Jets vs Cleveland Browns game, Corey Davis combined with Elijah Moore and Garrett Wilson to get a win.

The rookie started the Jets’ comeback, when they were trailing, with a 76-yard touchdown. He finished the game with 6 catches, the most in his 10 games with Green Bay.

Jakobi Meyers (Recommended FAAB: 12% of overall budget):

New England Patriots wide receiver Jakobi Meyers picked nine of 13 targets in hi team’s win over the Pittsburgh Steekers. He had 95 yards.

Greg Dortch (Recommended FAAB: 5% of overall budget):

Dortch was playing as Kyler Murray’s WR1 on Sunday. He and the quarterback helped the team cover a 20 plus points deficit against the Las Vegas birthday.

He had 4 receptions on 4 targetss, 55 receiving yards and one touchdown.

Sterling Shepard (Recommended FAAB: 2% of overall budget)

The New York Giants wide receiver helped his side to a 19-16 victory over the Panthers in the previous game. He registered 6 receptions out of 10 targets for 34 yards and 1 receiving first down.

Tight ends:

Tyler Higbee (Recommended FAAB: 5% of overall budget):

Like Week 2, Tyler Higbee should be a prime waiver wire target next week too. On Sunday, playing against the Atalanta Falcons, the LA Rams tightend caught seven of nine targets for 71 yards.

His side won  31-27. Higbee was second in targets behind Cooper Kupp. He fell one yard short of scoring his first touchdown this year. The 29-year-old’s 71 receiving yards were the most he’s had in a game since 2019.
