Kansas City Chiefs defeated the San Francisco 49ers 44-23 at Levi’s Stadium to claim the top spot in AFC West. The game saw fantasy football’s second-most picked RB, Christian McCaffrey made his debut for his new team, San Francisco 49ers.

McCaffrey was traded on Thursday to the 49ers from the Carolina Panthers in exchange for multiple draft picks of the next two NFL Drafts.

Carolina’s firing of head Coach Matt Rhule in Week 5 along with the offensive plays from QB Baker Mayfield were major contributors to the running back’s trade two days ago.

Grading Christian McCaffrey’s performance in his home debut for the San Francisco 49ers: –

Christian McCaffrey didn’t get the start at the running back position. Instead, head coach Kyle Shanahan started Jeff Wilson Jr at that spot. McCaffrey ripped off of a 10-yard carry in between the tackles on his first touch in a 49ers uniform, flashing both burst and elusiveness to pick up the first down. Not long after that, on the same road, McCaffrey added 9 more yards on the ground.

This led to a field goal for the team with the score reading 3-0 in the first quarter. When McCaffrey came off the sideline on a key 2-and-8 play at Kansas City’s 8-yard line and the running back ran a choice route off to his left, drawing two Chiefs defenders to cover the dynamic threat. That led to QB Jimmy Garoppolo finding an open WR Ray-Ray McCloud for the touchdown.

McCaffrey ended the game with 8 carries for 38 yards while also receiving the ball twice for 34 yards. The 49ers’ offense is likely to improve with the player adjusting to the team’s strategies improving in the coming weeks.

Final Grade: B
