The Buffalo Bills defeated the Los Angeles Rams 31-10 in the NFL 2022/23 opener at the SoFi Stadium on Thursday night. Quarterback Josh Allen threw for three touchdowns and intercepted twice. 

1) Josh Allen shines

Allen, 26 years old, completed 26 of 31 passes for 297 yards, while rushing for 56 yards. Scrambling for a 4-yard TD when he stretched the ball over the line with 13:27 to play. He was intercepted twice in the first half, but managed to put up an impressive show in the other quarters.

2) Cooper Kupp delivers

Wide Receiver Cooper Kupp had 13 catches for 128 yards and a touchdown. The 29-year-old made an exceptional toe-tapping catch in the back of the end zone on a precise throw three minutes before halftime for a touchdown.

3) The Von Miller effect

Von Miller, who transferred from Los Angeles Rams this year, made an immediate impact on his Buffalo Bills debut. He was just one part of a defense that yielded only 177 yards before Los Angeles’ final, meaningless drive.

The 33-year-old sacked former teammate Matthew Stafford for an 8-yard loss.

4) Cam Akers’ dud show

Los Angeles Rams running back Cam Akers did not play in the first quarter vs Buffalo Bills. He had three carries. 

Akers received his first carry of the match in the second quarter but rushed for zero yards. He did not receive any further snaps by QB Matthew Stafford in the entire match.

5) Gabriel Davis scores first touchdown of season

Wide receiver Gabriel Davis scored the first touchdown of the NFL 2022/23 season. Quarterback Josh Allen connected Davis for a 26-yard TD against the Los Angeles Rams. 

Buffalo’s defense delivered, too. The Bills intercepted Rams quarterback Matthew Stafford three times and sacked him six times.
