Andy Dalton, quarterback of the New Orleans Saints, could not hit a wide open receiver Marquez Callaway in the end zone against the Baltimore Ravens on Monday. The two sides locked horns at the Mercedes-Benz Superdome.

In the second quarter, Dalton was looking for Callaway, who was wide open in the endzone, but the ball went right through the fingertips of the WR. The team then settled for a field goal.  Baltimore led the Saints 14-3 at halftime.

Dalton, Michael Thomas and Jarvis Landry, struggled to find runners in the first half of the Monday Night game. He was 10/16 for 92 yards. In the absence of Mark Ingram the run game had 7 carries for 16 yards.

The Saints (3-5) have had a bit of a head start on that front. They’ve played their past five games without Thomas since he went out with his foot injury, going 2-3 in that span.

Several social media users trolled Andy Dalton for his miss against the Ravens.

“Andy Dalton being handed the starting job after his meltdown in Arizona makes absolutely no sense,” a Twitter user said.

“I feel more confident with Jameis Winston playing with one arm and one leg than I do Andy Dalton. This shit sucks,” another one tweeted.

Jamies Winston was starting for New Orleans before his campaign was derailed by a torn ACL. He had to miss the team’s Week 4 London game against the Vikings because of back and ankle injuries.

Dalton has been leading the team since.

Versatile running back Alvin Kamara has been an increasingly frequent target of Saints quarterback Andy Dalton. He had nine catches for 96 yards and two TDs in a Week 8 victory over Las Vegas.

“Me and Andy have some chemistry,” Kamara said. “I’m understanding how he’s seeing things and he’s understanding how I’m seeing things.”
