Week 9 of the 2022 NFL Season concluded with a dominating victory for the Baltimore Ravens over the New Orleans Saints. The game took place at the Mercedes Benz Superdome.

Starting the game without some of their offensive players in Mark Andrews and Rashod Bateman, the Ravens and QB Lamar Jackson, in particular, were poised to have a flat game.

But their offense stood up against a gritty New Orleans defense which is one of the best in the league.

This win makes it 2-2 for the Ravens on their current away run which included a win at Tampa last week and 4-5 for the season. The team has also won against New England Patriots and New York Jets while only losing to New York Giants away from them.

Let’s look at the highlights from the game:

1) Baltimore dominates from start to finish

Baltimore opened the scoring through tight end Isaiah Likely who caught a 24-yard pass from Lamar Jackson in the dying minutes of the first quarter. The team increased it’s lead to 14-0 when the second quarter was about to finish following a run to the one-yard line by RB Kenyan Drake. The team had two successful field goals from Kicker Justin Tucker in the third and fourth quarters and Drake had his second TD of the night, this time a 3-yard run.

2) Lamar Jackson makes history

As Jackson passed to Likely for the end-zone play in the first quarter, he created a new record by becoming the fastest player in NFL history to pass for 100 TDs and have 4000+ rushing yards in the first five seasons. It took him just 67 games to break Randall Cummingham’s record which he achieved in 98 games.

3) Ravens win despite injuries

The Ravens were dealing with multiple injuries to their offensive line coming into the game. Their starting tight end Mark Andrews was ruled out of the game as he was dealing with shoulder and knee injuries, WR Rashod Bateman was out indefinitely because he underwent foot surgery and RB Gus Edwards had a hamstring scare. But they won the game despite these setbacks to go 6-3 for the season.

4)Kenyan Drake shines for the Ravens

RB Drake had his best game of the season, as he had two rushing TDs near the endzone for combined four yards. These were just his second and third TD of the season. He has played in all eight games of the team and has 49 carries for 251 yards so far.
