Following a horrific head and neck injury suffered by Miami Dolphins quarterback Tua Tagovailoa and another concussion by Indianapolis Colts running back Nyheim Hines, NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell has revealed that the league is set to make some changes in its concussion protocol.

The 63-year-old’s comments came during a fan forum in London on Saturday, October 8, as the league’s concussion protocol is being scrutinized over the injury of Miami Dolphins’ star quarterback Tua Tagovailoa, who was rushed to a nearby hospital from the field during the match against Cincinnati Bengals on Week 3.

Roger Goodell was asked by a fan regarding NFL’s concussion protocol and recent incidents, indicating Tagovailoa’s injury, when he responded by saying that the concussion protocol has been under an “intensive focus” over the previous 15 years and it has worked as guidelines for different sports.

“Our job really is to continue to modify those as medical experts or other experiences tell you this is something you can do differently,” Goodell quipped.

The NFL Commissioner was present in London ahead of Sunday’s game between the Green Bay Packers and the New York Giants at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium. He took queries from the fans, when he spoke about the league’s concussion protocol but was not available for the press on October 8.

While the Commissioner spoke about upcoming changes to the existing concussion protocol, the NFL is yet to announce any changes or what they could be along with when can the fans expect the changes.

In the previous week, another NFL player suffered a concussion on the field, when Indianapolis Colts running back Nyheim Hines went down following a heavy hit. Hines looked to be struggling to get up, however, when he did, he wobbled to stand and was caught by his teammates before another fall. He was then taken out of the field and did not return to the game.
