The Indianapolis Colts have got a shot in the arm in week
two of the NFL season as Eric Fisher made his debut for the
team on Sunday against the Los Angeles Rams. Fisher started the game at left
tackle less than nine months after rupturing his left Achilles tendon.

The Rams won the game 27-24. Mathew Stafford did well in the passing department and the scorers were Cooper Cupp, Troy Reader, and Jalen Ramsey. The Colts scored through field goals by Rodrigo Blankenship. The Rams scored a field goal through Matt Gay.

The first possession of the second half ended with Darrell Henderson scoring on a two-yard run. Cooper Kupp’s 43-yard grab and run to the Colts’ 31-yard line was the crucial play of the drive.

In the second quarter, after Troy Reeder’s interception, the Rams seemed to be on their way to a score, but they had to settle for Matt Gay’s 34-yard goal. During a 16-play drive, Matthew Stafford completed five throws to five different receivers, including three to Cooper Kupp for nine, 11 and 14 yards.

When tackle DeForest Buckner pressed Stafford on third and nine from the 16-yard line, forcing an incompletion, the Colts forced a field goal.

Meanwhile, two-time Pro Bowler Eric Fisher made his Colts debut Sunday, starting at left tackle less than nine months after rupturing his left Achilles tendon.

Fisher had quite a journey in the last few months since his
injury. He was injured during the AFC championship game in January. He then
watched helplessly as the Kansas City Chiefs lost the Super Bowl to the Tom
Brady-led Tampa Bay Buccaneers and then was released by the Chiefs in a
cost-cutting move in March.

Colts general manager Chris Ballard, who knew Fisher from
his time in Kansas City, signed Fisher in May believing he could return by
early September. But the top overall selection in the 2013 NFL draft didn’t
even need that long to recover completely.
