Carr previously signed a five-year, $125 million extension with the Raiders in 2017. Now, he intends to stay with the franchise until 2025. As per the deal on Wednesday, Carr could earn upwards of $40 million over the next three years, which would make him one of the highest-paid quarterbacks in the NFL.

The agreement also puts a no-trade clause in his contract, according to Mike Garafolo of NFL Media.

Derek Carr helped the Raiders reach the playoffs last year with a 10-7 record. The 31-year-old finished the 2021 season with most passing yards of his career (4,804) as he averaged 282.6 passing yards per game. Las Vegas traded their heir first and second-round pick for Carr’s former teammate in Davante Adams.

Meanwhile, the Los Angeles Chargers have signed linebacker Troy Reeder, who spent three seasons with the Los Angeles Rams.

The team announced the deal on Tuesday.

Reeder was originally a restricted free agent, but the Rams decided not to offer him a contract extension, which made him an unrestricted free agent.

The 6-foot-3, 245-pound Reeder adds depth at linebacker along with experience and versatility on special teams. He started seven games in 2020, when Chargers coach Brandon Staley was the Rams’ defensive coordinator, and a career-high 13 last season when the Rams won their first Super Bowl title since the 1999 season.
