Another injury has hit the NFL in the opening weekend of the
new season as San Francisco 49ers running back Raheem Mostert was been ruled
out because of a knee injury while playing against the Detroit Lions on Sunday. Still, the 49ers won 41-33.

The team’s starting running back had two carries for 20
yards against the Lions. Even without Mostert, the 49ers had jumped out to a 38-17 lead in the third quarter over the Detroit Lions.

After Mostert’s injury, the 49ers now only have two other
active running backs as options. They are the second-year undrafted free agent
JaMycal Hasty, and rookie sixth-round pick Elijah Mitchell.

In other bad news on the injury front for the 49ers, linebacker
Dre Greenlaw is dealing with a groin injury and is questionable to return to
the game.

Greenlaw had a Pick Six late in the first half for the 49ers
and was taken to the locker room before halftime. Demetrius Flanningan-Fowles
and Marcell Harris are the two reserve linebacker options for the 49ers.
Flannigan-Fowles has replaced Greenlaw on the pitch with Azeez Al-Shaair moving
to the Will linebacker spot.

Quarterback Trey Lance hit the ground running as he made an instant impact for the San Francisco 49ers after coming on in the first quarter when his first-career pass went for a touchdown against Detriot Lions on Sunday.

Coach Kyle Shanahan decided not to start Lance at his preferred position and went with but with just eight minutes left on the clock in the first quarter, he called upon the services of the 21-year-old.

The 49ers scoring move that ended with Lance’s immaculate pass was started by Jimmy Garoppolo at quarterback. The No. 3 pick in the 2021 draft found Trent Sherfield with a five-yard pass to give San Francisco a 7-0 lead.
