Coming off its bye week, Tampa Bay Buccaneers and Tom Brady struggled against Washington Football Team on Sunday. Although Brady redeemed himself later with two touchdown passes, the 44-year-old was up two interceptions in the first quarter of the game.

Meanwhile, following the initial trends, the Washington side downed the Buccaneers 29-19.

This is only the third time in his career Brady’s had that many in the first quarter of a game, including the playoffs. He came into this game having been picked off a total of only five times all season. The star quarterback was intercepted twice in a loss to New Orleans in the Super Bowl champs’ last game, two weeks ago, and he has three picks in a seven-pass span.

Tampa Bay rookie receiver Jaelon Darden threw a ball that was intercepted by defender William Jackson III. This put Washington on the Tampa Bay 28-yard line, allowing rookie kicker Joey Slye to make a field goal.

Bobby McCain snatched Brady’s second interception as a throw came directly to him. On the play, it seemed as though Brady and his closest receiver, Mike Evans, were not on the same page.

Then came a 10-play, 46-yard drive that culminated in Taylor Heinicke’s 20-yard touchdown throw to DeAndre Carter, putting Washington up 13-0 early in the second quarter.
