The Kansas City Chiefs have acquired linebacker Melvin Ingram from the Pittsburgh Steelers in exchange for a 2022 sixth-round draft pick. Ingram has one sack and 10 tackles in six games for the Steelers this season. The 32-year-old was playing his first season with the Pittsburgh side, having spent the first nine years of his career with the Los Angeles Rams

The Chiefs (4-4) have made a disappointing start to the season and are ranked 29th in the NFL in total defense. Ingram joined a struggling Chiefs defense that has been grappling with injuries and has allowed 391.5 yards per game so far.

Ingram has played on 62% of the Steelers’ defensive snaps, although with just one start and limited production. He has also recorded 18 pressures as a pass rusher, according to stats from Pro Football Focus.

Linemen Frank Clark and Chris Jones – who played with a ligament injury in his wrist – have missed a combined total of five games, while defensive back Charvarius Ward has missed four games.

Chiefs have also struggled offensively this season, including in their narrow win over the New York Giants on Monday night.
