Green Bay Packers locked horns with the Los Angeles Rams at the Lambeau Field in Week 15.
Why is Lambeau Field called the Frozen Tundra?
The Lambeau field is the home stadium of the Green Bay Packers and has been the oldest continually operating football stadium in the USA. Though named after Packers’ founder, player and coach, Curley Lambeau, It is nicknamed the Frozen Tundra as it has recorded a series of highly chilled football matches in it’s 65 year history.
This includes the coldest game in NFL, Green Bay Packers vs Dallas Cowboys in the playoffs of the 1967 season where the kick off temperature was -13 and the wind chill was -46. The home side registered a 21-13 win in the game.
Other cold games include the playoff battle between the Green Bay Packers and the San Francisco 49ers in January 2014 and Packers vs Carolina Panthers from 1997. The tradition is said to continue as Tundra Frost will witness another highly chilled game, with the temperature in Green Bay being -9.
Monday’s game comes at a point when the Packers are struggling in NFC North with merely five wins in 13 matches. The Los Angeles Rams have also struggled at the event, barely managing four wins in 13 games despite being favourites due to their performance last season.
The packers will be hoping that their cornerback Jaire Alexander, a star this season, performs up to the expectations while the Rams will be banking on Bobby Wagner and Ernest Jones to shine.
