Cole Beasley, who plays for Buffalo Bills in the National Football League, on June 19, announced on his social media handle that he’d rather retire than get a COVID-19 vaccine.

This tweet comes after the NFL sent teams a memo mentioning different protocols for vaccinated and unvaccinated.

According to a CNN report, the NFL relaxed the protocols for the fully-vaccinated players and staff. The relaxation also includes loosening of COVID testing to once every two weeks.

The new rules also mentioned that players and staff who are vaccinated will not be required to quarantine if they come in contact with a COVID-positive patient.

“Everyone — Hi, I’m Cole Beasley and I’m not vaccinated! I will be outside doing what I do. I’ll be out in the public. If your scared of me then steer clear, or get vaccinated. Point. Blank. Period. I may die of covid, but I’d rather die actually living,” Beasley’s post read.

“I’m not going to take meds for a leg that isn’t broken. I’d rather take my chances with Covid and build up my immunity that way. Eat better. Drink water. Exercise and do what I think is necessary to be a healthy individual. That is MY CHOICE based on MY experiences and what I think is best,” he added.

“If I’m forced into retirement, so be it,” the post added.

The 32-year-old wide receiver finished the 2020 NFL season with 967 yards and four touchdowns.

This week, the league’s minicamps opened. NFL says the teams that have gotten an 85% vaccination threshold will be able to enjoy relaxed health and safety protocols.
