Thursday’s NFL game between the New England Patriots and Buffalo Bills features a Cook _ James. The running back is the brother of Dalvin Cook of the Minnesota Vikings.

Who is Dalvin Cook?

Dalvin Cook was born in Opa-locka, Florida. He attended Miami Central High School, the same school where former Seminole running back Devonta Freeman went.

The 27-year-old played as a running back and defensive back under coach Telly Lockette. He did not play football until his sophomore. In his senior year, he had the best record with 1940 yards, 37 touchdowns for 177 carries and 3 pass interceptions on defense. He led the Miami Centrals to a 52-5 record by the end of his high school career.

He attended Florida State University and was named MVP in the ACC Championship game against Georgia Tech in his freshman year. He was suspended in 2015 for off-field assault incidents.

He joined an elite group of athletes in Florida when he was named Mr. Football in 2013 by the Florida Dairy Farmers Association. He became only the third recipient of the award from the Miami-Dade County. The others were Jacory Harris, who won the title in 2007 and Duke Johnson in 2011.

Cook let go off his senior year at college to enter the 2017 NFL Draft. The Minnesota Vikings drafted him in the 2nd Round of the Draft as the 41st overall pick. Other players from the 2017 NFL Draft class include quarterback Patrick Mahomes, defensive end Myles Garrett, and quarterback Deshaun Watson.

Who is James Cook:

James Cook grew up in Miami, Florida, and attended Miami Central Senior High School. As a freshman, he rushed 709 yards and eight touchdowns on 99 carries . As a senior, he rushed for 782 yards and 10 touchdowns on 91 carries. James rushed for 2,019 yards and 30 touchdowns during his high school career.

He played in all 15 games during his final season at Georgia in 2021. His totaled career-best numbers across the board were with 113 attempts for 728 yards and seven touchdowns. He also set career-highs with 27 receptions for 284 yards and four receiving touchdowns.

Cook majored in Housing Management & Policy during his time at the University of Georgia.
