The National Hockey League‘s (NHL) Seattle Kraken will finally have a team full of players when they reveal their selections in the 2021 NHL Expansion Draft. More than 4,000 fans are expected to be at the Gas Works Park, Seattle to hear the names selected by Seattle.

They are due to begin their play next season as the NHL’s 32nd team. The addition of the Kraken will see them balance out the NHL’s Eastern and Western Conferences to 16 teams apiece.

Reportedly, they will select 30 players, one per team. It will exclude the Vegas Golden Knights, who are exempt after joining the NHL as an expansion team in 2017-18.

The Seattle Kraken must select at least 14 forwards, nine defensemen and three goalies. They should also have 20 players, who are under contract for the next season.

Seattle’s selections must have 60% to 100% of the NHL salary cap, which will remain $81.5 million for next season.

This expansion draft will be the end of a process that began when Francis was named Seattle’s first general manager July 18, 2019.
