The National Hockey League expansion draft is set to kick off in the United States as all eyes are likely to be focused on the Seattle Kraken team, which plays in the Pacific Division in the Western Conference. 

The team will unveil a full list of those who will be competing next fall as the NHL‘s 32nd team. The Kraken will also unveil their uniforms and have some of their new players.

When is the expansion draft announcement?

The expansion draft is set to be disclosed at 8pm ET on July 21, Wednesday in the United States, however, the team’s list was to be submitted to the league management by 10 am on the same day. 

Where will the announcement be made?

Viewers can witness the expansion draft announcement on ESPN 2  with Chris Fowler, Dominic Moore and Kevin Weekes, according to reports from USA Today.

The Seattle Kraken must select at least 14 forwards, nine defensemen and three goalies. They should also have 20 players, who are under contract for the next season.

Seattle’s selections must have 60% to 100% of the NHL salary cap, which will remain $81.5 million for next season.

This expansion draft will be the end of a process that began when Francis was named Seattle’s first general manager July 18, 2019.

After Wednesday’s big event, the NHL Draft for 2021 is scheduled for the weekend. The first round of the draft session starts at 8pm ET on Friday while rounds 2 through 7 will be broadcasted on Saturday at 11 am ET.
