Novak Djokovic defeated Nick Kyrgios in the Wimbledon 2022 final to win his seventh All England title and fourth on a trot. The Serb, who lost the first set, bucked up and put the pressure back on Kyrgios. He won 4-6, 6-3, 6-4, 7-6 (3).
Kyrgios has had a controversial tournament so far. On field aggression, abusive behaviour towards fans, opponents and umpires and a sexual harassment case – the Aussie has been in news for most part of the last two weeks. He made it to his first Grand Slam final.

After losing against Djokovic, Kyrgios, who kept throwing tantrums all through the final, said, “Yeah he is a bit of a god, I’m not going to lie. I thought I played well. First of all congratulations to Novak and your team, you’ve won this Championships that many times I don’t even know any more.”
The 27-year-old was seen yelling at the ball boys, the umpires and also at his team. He apologised and thanked them for ‘putting up with it’.

“Obviously to all the ball kids, the umpires, I know we have a tough relationship at times so thanks for putting up with it. And [thanks] to the crowd, it has been an amazing couple of weeks for me personally,” he added.
“Absolutely not! I’m so tired honestly. Myself, my team, we’re all exhausted. We’ve played so much tennis. I’m really happy with this result and maybe one day I’ll be here again but I don’t know about that.”

The top-seeded Djokovic ran his unbeaten run at the grass-court Grand Slam tournament to 28 matches and raised his career haul to 21 major trophies, breaking a tie with Roger Federer and moving just one behind Rafael Nadal’s 22 for the most in the history of men’s tennis.
Among men, only Federer, with eight, has won more titles at Wimbledon than Djokovic. In the professional era, only Federer was older (by less than a year) than the 35-year-old Djokovic when winning at the All England Club.
