An argument can be made that Lionel Messi is the GOAT in the footballing world though the Argentine faces stiff competition from Portuguese striker Cristiano Ronaldo. Over their spectacular careers, the two have shared the stage and comparisons have been inevitably drawn regarding every aspect of their game.
When it comes to awards and goal tallies, there’s not much to tell Messi and Ronaldo apart, but the latter has by far scored some memorable bicycle kick goals, including the one against Juventus during Real Madrid’s Champions League match, which even had legendary goalkeeper Gianluigi Buffon, expressing his appreciation. Surprisingly, Messi hadn’t scored a single bicycle goal in his career until the Paris Saint-Germain match against Clermont, where the 35-year-old finally got one to his name.
Messi’s height is a factor in the Argentine not having scored too many bicycle goals, but he had a fantastic match against Clermont where PSG dominated.
