Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chairman Ramiz Raja said that the cricket board will receive a blank cheque if Pakistan’s cricket team is
able to beat India in the upcoming men’s T20 World Cup.

“One strong investor told me that a blank cheque is ready for the PCB if Pakistan beats India in the upcoming T20 World Cup,” the PCB chairman said.

Both sides will go head-to-head in their
opening fixture which is scheduled to take place on October 24. The match will
be held at the Dubai International Stadium.

As per news agency ANI, Ramiz Raja, in a meeting with the Senate Standing Committee
on Inter-Provincial Coordination (IPC), said that the cricket board runs on 50% of the funding that they get from the ICC.

“PCB runs 50% on the
funding of ICC. 90% of funding to ICC comes from India. I’m afraid that
if India stopped funding ICC, then PCB might collapse because PCB gives zero
per cent funding to ICC. I’m determined to make Pakistan cricket strong,” ANI quoted Raja as saying.

It is well known all around the world that ICC receives majority of its funding from the big three India, Australia and England. The influence of these boards is such that no major financial or cricketing decision can be implemented if they are not on the same page.

The withdrawal
from the New Zealand and England cricket boards was not received well by the
Asian nation. Ramiz went on to argue that teams would not withdraw from tours
if the board has strong financial support.

He said, “If
our cricket economy is strong, we won’t be used and then binned by teams like
England and New Zealand. Best cricket team and best cricket economy are two big
challenges,”
