Patrick Mahomes, quarterback for the Kansas City Chiefs, on Sunday locked horns with the Cincinnati Bengals in the AFC title game at Arrowhead Stadium. The winner of the match will advance to the NFL Super Bowl vs Philadelphia Eagles on February 12.

Patrick Mahomes is married to soccer player Brittany Matthews. The couple has two children – Sterling Skye and Patrick “Bronze” Lavon Mahomes III.

Sterling Skye was born on February 20, 2021. The family welcomed her younger brother on November 28, 2022.

“Brittany has helped out a ton being a champion mom, and so it’s been a lot of fun and to be able to come home every single day and see her and how energized she is and how she’s changing and growing already. I’m just trying to tell her to slow down so I can enjoy every minute of it,” Mahomes said after becoming a father.

The couple, who got engaged in September 2020, first met while attending school in Texas as two buddies. When Matthews was just a freshman at Whitehouse High School in 2011, the quarterback grew close to her.

The following year, he gave her a rose and a Valentine’s Day card, and their friendship developed into something more. The athletes were each other’s go-to dates for gym dances throughout their time in high school; Mahomes played football and baseball while Matthews was a standout soccer player. The teen lovers maintained their connection by attending different colleges while remaining in Texas.

The quarterback proposed to Matthews somewhere between Super Bowl appearances, on the day he received his title ring at Arrowhead Stadium in September 2020. They now live in Kansas City and along with their children, they also share a dog.
