Chelsea showed why they are the Premier League leaders as
they hit seven past bottom of the table Norwich City to complete a 7-0 drubbing
of the Canaries on Saturday. This was Thomas Tuchel’s biggest win as Chelsea
coach to date and it came without Chelsea’s regular strikers, Romelu Lukaku or
Timo Werner, in the squad.

It was Mason Mount, Chelsea’s homegrown talent, who stepped
in to fill the shoes of Lukaku and Werner and he did it in some style. Mount
opened the scoring with a sweet strike low into the corner from the edge of the
area to get back among the goals again.

It took Chelsea just 10 more minutes after the first goal to
double their lead and it was Callum Hudson-Odoi who was on the scoresheet. Odoi
took his chance after being played down the left flank and coolly slotted the
ball into the corner of the goal.

It was 3-0 just moments before half time, and it was Mount who
assisted the rampaging Reece James on the right flank and he dinked the ball
home beautifully past the clueless Norwich keeper.

Ben Chilwell made it 4-0 after the kickoff for the second
half with an easy finish across goal and Tim Krul flapped a deflected cross
into his own net for the fifth Chelsea goal, compounding his already miserable
outing at the Stamford Bridge.

There was no let off for the Canaries as their miserable
afternoon continued with Ben Gibson being sent off for a second yellow card and
Mount took advantage to complete a hat-trick in the closing stages of the game.
He first slotted the ball home from the penalty spot and then hit a close range
finish , assisted by Ruben Loftus-Cheek in the dying moments of a memorable
game for the European champions.
