Manchester United will be travelling to Merseyside to take on Everton at the Goodison Park in their eighth Premier League match of the season. Erik ten Hag’s men will have a point to prove after getting routed by local rivals Manchester City with a scoreline of 6-3 in their previous match.

This is the first time that the two teams will come face-to-face after the April 2022 match, post which United star Cristiano Ronaldo had struck a phone off an Everton fan’s hand, that led to him being charged by the FA and warned by the Merseyside Police.

Here are some records fans should watch out for in the match:

Everton’s winning streak

Everton have remained unbeaten in their last six league matches, winning two and drawing the rest. If they manage to remain unbeaten in the match against United, the Merseyside club can equal their seven-game unbeaten streak, which was achieved in November-December 2017.

Elusive victories for the Merseysiders

Everton will come into the match off two straight league victories. If they manage to beat the Red Devils, they will be equalling their March 2021 record of winning three Premier League matches in a row.

United’s poor away record

Man United, who were masters of winning away matches under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, seem to have lost their mojo. In their last seven away matches against the Toffees in the Premier League, United have managed only a single victory. It remains to be seen whether ten Hag manages to inject the team with the confidence to bypass the Everton hurdle.

Everton’s chances of consecutive victories

Everton had last won two consecutive Premier League fixtures against United in 2013-14. They have a chance to repeat this feat with a win tonight, after having defeated the Red Devils with a 1-0 scoreline in the aforementioned April 2022 match.
