Liverpool was handed their first defeat of the 2022-23 English Premier League as they went down 2-1 to Manchester United at Old Trafford.

This is Liverpool’s worst start to a Premier League season in the last 10 years. In the 2012-13 season, the team only managed to record two points in the opening five matches.

With a couple of draws and a loss to their name, this is also the team’s worst start to a season since Jurgen Klopp took over in 2015. Earlier the team had suffered consecutive draws against Fulham and Crystal Palace with scorelines reading 2-2 and 1-1, respectively, in the matches.

Liverpool now sit at the 16th spot with two points in three games, just a couple of places above the relegation zone. They are also ahead of their city rivals Everton who languish behind the Reds in the 17th spot with just a single point under their belt.

Mohamed Salah scored the solitary goal for the team and the Egyptian player has now scored in all of the last five games against Manchester United.

Following the completion of the game, Liverpool also had their unbeaten streak of 21 games ended at the hands of United.
