Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur met each other on Matchday 12 in the Premier League at Old Trafford where the Reds managed a win over the North London team by two goals to none.
The first 45 minutes of the match ended even as both sides failed to register a goal. However, Manchester United were clearly the better team as Tottenham goalkeeper Hugo Lloris had to make several high-intensity saves to keep Spurs in the game.

The second half opened with a goal for United as a Fred shot from outside the box deflected off Ben Davies and eluded Hugo Lloris in the 46th minute. The second goal came in the 68th minute as Bruno Fernandes curled an effort from outside the box into the right corner.
After this win, United has gone up to fifth place in the league table, just one point short of Chelsea in fourth place. Tottenham, on the other hand, remain in the 3rd position on the table, but that may change if Chelsea win their next match against United on Saturday, October 22, 2022.
“I think United deserved to win, and they played a really good game” Tottenham manager Antonio Conte said. “On our side, I think in these types of games, the level is always going to be very high and we need to improve a lot, a lot, and try to do better than today.”
“The first goal was a deflection but in the end, I have to be honest and tell you that United played better than us. I think into the pitch we put will and I think we have to know that at this level we have to do better. United today showed that they are much better than us.”
“I consider United a really good team. What they did in the transfer market and what money they spent, we are talking about two different levels. But at the same time, we have to be much better because we are struggling, we struggled against Chelsea, Arsenal, and again today.”

“[We won] against the solid and magnificent Tottenham Hotspur. We performed very well,” Mancher United manager Eric Ten Hag said after the match.
“Our games are not always going like this and we know that. When we don’t play that well like on Sunday, we still have to win. Today it was a brilliant performance. We scored two goals but I think we could have scored three or four.” he added.
