Indian cricketer Prithvi Shaw was not included in India’s squad for India’s upcoming tour of New Zealand and Bangladesh. A total of four squads for the two series were announced by Chetan Sharma, the chief selector of BCCI, on Monday.

The Men in Blue are supposed to play three T20I against New Zealand followed by three ODI matches. The T20I matches will start on November 18. After that, they will travel to Bangladesh for a three-match ODI series and a two-match Test series.

Chetan Sharma announced the squad in a virtual press conference. When asked about why Shaw was not included, Sharma said that BCCI is keeping a constant eye on Shaw, adding that he will get his chance in the future.

Shaw reacted to the news in a cryptic Instagram story that created a lot of confusion. The 22-year-old posted a picture of Sai Baba with the caption: “Hope you are watching everything SAI BABA”.

“We are basically looking for Prithvi (Shaw). We are in constant touch with Prithvi. He is doing well,” Chetan Sharma said in the question about Shaw.

“There is nothing wrong with him at all. The thing is that we have to see whether the guys who are already playing and performing are getting their chances. He will definitely get his chance the way he is batting. Selectors are in constant touch with Prithvi. Whenever we are there in matches, we are talking to him, and he will get his chances very soon,” he added.

Sharma clarified that the current selection has been done keeping in mind players who are already in the team setup and have been producing good performances for the Men in Blue.
