Ace Indian shuttler PV Sindhu has decided to withdraw from the forthcoming Thomas and Uber
Cup citing personal reasons, her father told news agency ANI on Wednesday.
Scheduled
to be hosted in Aarhus, Denmark from October 3 to 11, The Thomas and Uber Cup will
mark the return of live badminton after COVID-19 pandemic brought the world of
sports to a screeching halt.

It is still
unclear whether the rest of the Indian contingent will travel to Denmark for
the tournament, as the Sports Authority of India (SAI) and the Badminton Association
of India (BAI) are reportedly still holding discussions on the matter.
Some countries, including the Chinese Taipei, have pulled out from the tournament in
light of the pandemic.
Meanwhile, the
Badminton World Federation (BWF) recently shared its Safety Protocols and Operating Procedure
document, highlighting the regulations in place to secure the health safety of
all concerned individuals at the tournament.

Any breach
of the protocols may result in revoking of accreditations and participants being withheld from entering the venues.
Reigning
world champions Sindhu is currently at the SAI Gopichand academy in Hyderabad with
national coach Pullela Gopichand, along with fellow shuttlers Kidambi Srikanth,
B Sai Praneeth and N Sikki Reddy.
SAI had
allowed resumption of training at the SAI-Pullela Gopichand Academy from August
7 following the Telangana government’s approval on August 1.
