Nathan Coulter-Nile, Rajasthan Royals’ pacer, has been ruled out of the rest of IPL 2022 due to an injury sustained in the first match, the team announced Wednesday. The Aussie was bought by the 2008 champions for Rs 2 crore.

Coulter-Nile had suffered a side strain in Rajasthan Royals’ first game this season, against the Sunrisers Hyderabad. The 34-year-old bowled only three overs before he had to walk off the field. 

Bowling his fourth over against SRH, he delivered a waist height no-ball but went tumbling down on his follow through. The pacer had gone for 48 runs in the game.

The franchise is yet to announce a replacement for him.

RR made the announcement with a short clip where teammates bid farewell to Nathan Coulter Nile. “Until we meet again, NCN. ? Speedy recovery. ? #RoyalsFamily | #HallaBol |” they captaioned the post. 

“I had the pleasure of introducing Nathan when he first came into the bubble and into our family. Unfortunately, I have got the hard task of wishing him farewell. It’s always to lose someone particularly when its through injury. And you know we were really looking forward to spending a lot of time with you throughout this tournamentm,” a support staff member could be seen saying in the clip.

“But unfortunately, that’s not gonna be. He is leaving us tomorrow morning. But you know you are a big part of us. What you have given already has been massive to us. Having you around the group, we have a learned a lot from you as well. Travel safely and anything you need from us we are always here. We look forward to having you back with us,” he added. 

With Coulter-Nile gone, RR gave an opportunity to India speedster Navdeep Saini. The 29-year-old has picked three wickets in the six overs he has bowled in the season so far.
