Real Madrid’s run of form seems to be making them a winning machine under manager Carlo Ancelotti. The club, in 2022, has won the Champions League, La Liga, the Spanish Super Cup, and now the UEFA Super Cup after beating Eintracht Frankfurt with a 2-0 scoreline. Here’s a tweet by the club listing its achievements in 2022:

Karim Benzema, who was the backbone of Los Blancos’ miraculous comebacks on their way to Champions League glory in the 2021-22 season, added another feather to his hat when he crossed club legend and former captain Raul’s goal haul of 323 with a 65-minute strike from a Vinicius Junior assist. Madrid’s first goal, however, was scored by David Alaba in the 37th minute.

Benzema is now the Spanish club’s second-highest scorer, only behind the 450-goal mark set by Portuguese superstar Cristiano Ronaldo. Madrid had another opportunity to score when Brazilian midfielder Casemiro’s shot hit the bar in the 61st minute. Despite not registering his name on the scoresheet, Casemiro went home with the Super Cup MVP Award:

This is the fifth UEFA Super Cup victory for Los Blancos, making their number of wins at par with rivals Barcelona and German giants Bayern Munich. Aurelien Tchouameni and Antonio Rudiger, the two latest signings by Madrid, also had a chance to partake in glory when they were brought on at the 85th minute. Real Madrid goalkeeper, Thibaut Courtois, had a spectacular game as well as he made some crucial saves. Courtois has now made 19 saves in the four final matches he has played for Los Blancos.
