The 21-year-old,  who is a race winner in Formula 2, is facing a full investigation from the racing giant and an uncertain future, after previously being widely touted as a potential entrant into Red Bull’s sister team Alpha Tauri in the coming seasons.

Vips, who even debuted for the Red Bull Formula 1 team when he filled in for Sergio Perez during Free Practice 1 at Barcelona during the Spanish Grand Prix weekend last month, was participating in a session of Call of Duty along with fellow Red Bull Junior Liam Lawson, and on Tuesday footage emerged showing Vips using the racial slur, much to the surprise of his fellow racer.

Red Bull has since released a statement, saying, “Red Bull Racing has suspended junior driver Juri Vips from all team duties with immediate effect, pending a full investigation into the incident.”

“As an organisation, we condemn abuse of any kind and have a zero-tolerance policy to racist language or behaviour within our organisation,” the statement added.

A regretful Vips has taken to Instagram to issue an unconditional apology.

“I wish to unreservedly apologise for the offensive language used during a live gaming stream earlier today,” his statement read.

“This language is entirely unacceptable and does not portray the values and principles that I hold. I deeply regret my actions and this is not the example I wish to set.

“I will cooperate with the investigation fully.”

Vips has been a national and Formula 4 champion and is currently in his third season in Formula 2, for the Hitech Grand Prix Team, currently 7th in the standings.
