Reece Topley once again damaged Indian batting’s back bone by taking the top-three wickets- Rohit Sharma, Shikhar Dhawan and Virat Kohli – in the the third ODI in Manchester’s Old Trafford Stadium on Sunday. The Men in Blue, chasing 260 runs, were reduced to 43/3 inside 10 overs.

Topley, who had taken a match-winning six-wicket haul in the second ODI, started off the third game on a high. The English pacer first got rid of Dhawan on his first ball. The Indian opener opened the face of the bat on the drive and handed Jason Roy an easy catch at point. He was dismissed for 1 run in three balls.
In his very next over, Topley managed to take skipper Rohit Sharma’s edge for a catch in the slips. The batter was dismissed for 17 runs in as many balls.

However, it was the wicket of an out of form Virat Kohli that saw the English players cheer the most. The former India skipper had hit three boundaries and was getting into rhythm. Topley delivered a good length angled across delivery, which was not so wide, but enough to induce a forward jab. The out-side edge carried to wicketkeeper Jos Buttler and the star batter was out for 17 runs in 22 balls.

Kohli’s dismissal was similar to how Reece Topley got him at Lord’s in the second ODI. An out-side off ball edged behind the stumps.
With the wicket, Virat Kohli’s disappointing England tour came to an end. He scored 11 and 20 runs in the rescheduled fifth Test, 1 and 11 in two T20Is and 16 runs in the second ODI.
