The National Football League (NFL) and Roc Nation on Sunday confirmed that Rihanna will headline the 2023 Apple Music Super Bowl Halftime Show

“We are thrilled to welcome Rihanna to the Apple Music Super Bowl Halftime Show stage,” Seth Dudowsky, NFL Head of Music, said in a statement, Hollywood Reporter reported. 

“Rihanna is a once-in-a-generation artist who has been a cultural force throughout her career. We look forward to collaborating with Rihanna, Roc Nation and Apple Music to bring fans another historic Halftime Show performance.”

The 34-year-old singer on Sunday shared a photo of her hand holding a football aloft. The post was shared by NFL and Roc Nation.

Soon after the announcement, Rihanna started trending on Twitter as excited fans reacted to the news on the social media platform. 

“omggggg the fenty bowl is coming,” one person commented. 

“I’ve never been so excited about football in my life!!!” wrote another person.

“Imagine staying away from music for 6 years and announcing your comeback through Super Bowl??!!. Rihanna is my favorite superstar please,” another person tweeted. 

The 2023 Super Bowl Halftime Show will take place on February 12, 2023. The 2022 event took place at SoFi Stadium and featured Snoop Dogg, Dr. Dre, Eminem, Kendrick Lamar and 50 Cent perform. 

“Rihanna is an incredible recording artist who is a favorite for many millions of Apple Music customers around the world,” Oliver Schusser, Apple’s vice president of Apple Music and Beats, said, Hollywood Reported reported. 

“We’re excited to partner with Rihanna, Roc Nation and the NFL to bring music and sports fans a momentous show — what an incredible artist for the inaugural Apple Music Super Bowl Halftime Show.”

The announcement comes days after reports claimed Taylor Swift will be headlining the event.
