Robert Griffin III, who is currently a free agent quarterback, has been filmed wearing a Damar Hamlin jersey while analysing the Las Vegas Raiders vs Kansas City Chiefs game at half time.

Damar Hamlin is recovering in the University of Cincinnati Medical Center, and has posted on social media tonight for the first time since his injury last week that resulted in a cardiac arrest.

Hamlin, in his tweet, said, “Putting love into the world comes back 3xs as much… thankful for everyone who has reached out and prayed. This will make me stronger on the road to recovery, keep praying for me!”

All NFL sides are showing their support for Hamlin in their games tonight. Patrick Mahomes and Maxx Crosby were spotted wearing shirts with Hamlin’s name on them tonight.

The Buffalo Bills are set to face the New England Patriots tonight. Hamlin’s teammates will be wearing a patch with the number 3 (his jersey number) tonight to show solidarity with their injured teammate.

All 32 NFL teams have included “Pray for Damar” on their Twitter avatars. ESPN’s Dan Orlovsky prayed for the Buffalo Bills’ safety on live TV. Countless fans and other concerned observers said on social media they were praying, and dozens linked arms outside his Cincinnati hospital.

“In commemorating life or death in sport, people say pray, pray, pray a lot,” said Julie Byrne, chair of the Religion Department at Hofstra University. “I don’t think it reaches the pitch that you have here because of the incredibly dramatic circumstances. But it’s a pretty go-to response.”
