Rodri has scored for Manchester City in the Champions League final against Inter Milan in Istanbul.

Manu Akanji sent Bernardo into the area. The cross is blocked, and falls perfectly for Rodri, 15 yards out, to shoot into the back of the net with some force.

Inter Milan made its first substitution of the game in the 57th minute, swapping forward Edin Dzeko for Belgian star Romelu Lukaku.

Moments later, City goalkeeper Ederson went one-on-one with a suddenly free-running Lautaro Martínez, and saved his shot. As the attack swung in the other direction, Nicolò Barella was shown a yellow card for his challenge against Phil Foden.

But midfielder Rodri made the breakthrough after 68 minutes in Istanbul to open the scoring against Inter Milan.

Inter saw a brutal near-equalizer in the 71th minute. Federico Dimarco sent a lobbing header toward goal but it hit the crossbar. The rebound fell toward Dimarco, whose follow-up header hit teammate Romelu Lukaku’s leg.

The game was scoreless after an evenly-contested first half. Favorite Manchester City started the second half without star midfielder Kevin De Bruyne, who left the game in the 36th minute with an injury.

This was only Rodri’s second ever goal in Europe’s top club competition. This was also Manchester City’s first ever goal in a European Cup or UEFA Champions League final.

City will be looking to put the 2021 final defeat to Chelsea from two years ago behind them.

Additionally, the Blues are almost ready to complete the treble. For the fifth time in six years, the Premier League has been won, and City won the FA Cup last weekend by defeating Manchester United at Wembley.

Thousands of fans have made the trip to Turkey, and those who were fortunate enough to secure tickets are hoping to see history this evening.
