The Indian
cricket team was up against the New Zealand cricket team for the third time as
part of a T20 International series which had been taking place in India. The
match was played at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata. Under the leadership of newly
appointed permanent skipper Rohit Sharma, the Men in Blue look much different
from the side in the ICC T20 World Cup. Leading from the front, Rohit enabled
the hosts to have a flying start to the match with his attacking knock which paved
the way for a big total to be put on the board.

Rahul Dravid wants India to be ‘realistic’ about New Zealand series win

The Indian
side’s display in the recent ICC tournament was disappointing to say the least
as they met with a group stage exit following crushing defeats from Babar Azam’s
Pakistan and Kane Williamson’s New Zealand.

Ishan
Kishan and Rohit Sharma were the opening pairing for the Men in Blue in the
third T20 International. The two who understand each other’s gameplay well
thanks to sharing the dressing room with the Mumbai Indians in the Indian
Premier League were hitting boundaries at will.

At the end
of the first six overs Rohit Sharma was playing on 39 runs in 17 balls, having
hit three sixes in the process. On the other end Ishan Kishan was batting
unbeaten on 29 runs in 19 balls.

Rohit’s
exploits helped him achieve the milestone of becoming the second batter to
score 150 or more sixes in T20 Internationals. The captain’s record breaking
third six of the innings was hit on a delivery from Lockie Ferguson. Sharma smashed
the short delivery out of the park while playing his favourite ‘pull shot’. The
ball was guided between the square leg and deep fine leg fielder.

The list
for most sixes in T20 Internationals is led by the Kiwi’s opener Martin Guptill
who has smashed 161 sixes until now and the number is expected to grow by
manifolds as long as he continues playing.

West Indies’
legendary batter Chris Gayle occupies the third spot with 124 sixes. Virat Kohli
is the only other Indian in the list and has 91 sixes to his name.
