The Rajiv Gandhi Khel Ratna award will be awarded to cricketer Rohit Sharma, ParaAthlete Mariyappan T., Table tennis player Manika Batra, Wrestler Vinesh Phogat and hockey player Rani Rampal reported ANI. The Rajiv Gandhi Khel Ratna award is the highest sporting honour in India. It is awarded to outstanding performers for spectacular performance in their field of sports for over a four-year period.
Likewise, cricketers Ishant Sharma and Deepti Sharma, athlete Dutee Chand, shooter Manu Bhaker are among 27 sportspersons who will be awarded the Arjuna Award. The Arjuna Award is conferred to a sportsperson who is a consistently outstanding performer for four years in their respective fields.
Dhyan Chand Awards has also been conferred to Kuldip Singh Bhullar and Jincy Philips from the field of athletics, Pradeep Shrikrishna Gandhe and Trupti Murgunde from the field of badminton and pugilists N Usha and Lakha Singh. It also included nominations from the fields of football, hockey, kabaddi,para-athletics, and para-badminton, rowing, swimming, tennis, and wrestling.
The Rashtriya Khel Protsahan Puruskar award was also announced for the four categories of -Identification and Nurturing of Budding and Young Talent, Encouragement to Sports through Corporate Social Responsibility, Employment of sportspersons and sports welfare measures, and Sports for Development.
The recommendations for the awards had previously been announced on August 19.
