Rajasthan Royals registered their second victory of the Indian Premier League 2020 after dominating Kings XI Punjab in the highest ever successful run chase in the history of the league.

After Kings XI Punjab scored a mammoth total of 223 in the first innings, thanks to a brilliant opening partnership between Mayank Agarwal and KL Rahul. On one hand Agarwal scored his maiden century, on the other hand Rahul continued his good form after scoring a century himself in the previous match.

With 224 to chase, Rajasthan Royals stumbled in the beginning after losing Jos Buttler. But then came Sanju Samson who put up a strong partnership with captain Steve Smith. Both the players were able to keep up with the demanding run rate, however after Smith’s departure right after his half century, the asking run rate increased as Rahul Tewatia was off to a slow start.

Tewatia was able to score just 17 runs in the first 23 balls and even Samson got out after scoring 85. With the asking run rate over 15 runs per over, Tewatia shifted gears and hit five sixes in Sheldon Cottreal’s over. At the end, RR was left with just two runs to score in the last over which they did with three balls to spare.
