New York Giants running back Saquon Barkley scored the first touchdown of this week’s Monday Night Football against the Dallas Cowboys. The match is played at the Metlife Stadium, home of the Giants.

The play occurred in the tenth minute of the third quarter when the running back took the ball from QB Daniel Jones and rushed for 36 yards to score in the endzone.

This gave the Giants a 13-6 lead over the Cowboys. The first half of the game saw only field goals being scored by both the teams as the half-time score read 6-3 in favor of the Cowboys. 

Coming into the game, the Giants were second in the NFC East, behind Philadelphia Eagles who have won all their matches so far. NFC East comprises Washington Commanders, Philadelphia Eagles, Dallas Cowboys and New York Giants.

The Giants are off to a great start in the 2022 NFL Season. They are 2-0 after two games, having won their matches against the Tennessee Titans and Carolina Panthers in Week 1 and 2 respectively. Daniel Jones has passed for a combined three touchdowns and an interception in those matches.

This is Barkley’s second rushing touchdown of the season, he had one in the opening match versus the Titans. The game was tied at 6-6, before the play occurred and gave the team a seven-point lead. He has rushed for 79 yards in 13 carries in the game so far. 

Saquon Barkley has 20 rushing touchdowns in his NFL career till now. He was drafted by the Giants as the second overall pick in the 2018 NFL Draft. He subsequently signed a four-year rookie contract, worth $31.2 million fully guaranteed. He also won the 2018 NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year and made the Pro Bowl appearance that season.
